Name: Aaron Dedios
Age: 7
Background:
Aaron is the boy in the
picture on the right. He turned seven on November 19th. He lives in
Hialeah, Florida with his mom, dad, and brother. And he needs your
help.
Aaron was born and began
developing as any regular baby. He began walking at 11 months. Talking
at 12 months. But at 18 months, things began to change…
Suddenly, he stopped
responding to his name. His mother, Raquel, could scream and still he
wouldn’t turn his head. Shortly later, he was diagnosed with
autism.
Aaron Doesn’t Talk… Doesn’t
Play With
Toys…
And He Lacks Basic Self Care Abilities…
While Aaron is verbal, he only
repeats words when you ask him to do so. Otherwise he doesn’t
communicate. Period.
Can you imagine not being able
to communicate with your child? Not having him tell you
what’s going on in his life? Not having him tell you ANYTHING
for the matter? Let me just say, his mom’s biggest wish is to
communicate with her son.
In fact, very frequently Aaron
just begins crying hysterically like he is in some kind of severe pain.
His eyes go red and start tearing, he begins screaming, and no one
knows why. He can’t communicate what’s going on
with him.
Neither does Aaron play with
toys,
and he lacks basic self-care skills. For example, he’s
seven years old now and hasn’t been able to learn to be
toilet trained yet.
Why Aaron Jumped Out
Of A Third Floor Window…
Aaron is extremely hyperactive
because of his autism. He can’t sit or stand still for more
then a moment. He is constantly running around, jumping off things,
bumping into things. He’s like a speeding bullet with no
given direction.
The worst part about this:
With his autism comes NO sense of danger.
He’s been in more
life and death scenarios then can be counted. If you go outside with
him and are not holding him securely, he would run right into traffic,
as if there weren’t cars on the road. Happened many times.
And then… last year…
… Aaron jumped out
a third floor window because it was opened. Thankfully by miracle he
wasn’t seriously injured.
He also climbs everything he
can. A few months ago, on a visit to his grandparents, he was with his
family in their backyard. And, out of the blue, they realized he
somehow climbed his way to the roof of their house!
He was running around on this
steep roof, jumping around, and thankfully they got him off the roof
before he could have severely injured himself.
Can Things Be Even
Worse? Yes, And Here’s How…
Aaron’s family is
struggling financially. They can’t come remotely close to
paying for all the things Aaron’s doctors say he needs to get
better, which includes:
A special gluten-free
& caffeine-free diet: $100 a week minimum/$5,000 per year.
10 hours of verbal behavior
therapy per week: $450 a week/ $23,000 a year.
10 hours in Integrated Group
Program per week: $295 a week/$15,000 a year.
That’s already a
total of $43,000 a year, and this list doesn’t include the
supplements he needs, doctors visits, and other costs, taking it to
$50,000+ a year.
Aaron’s parents,
Raquel and Armando, are deeply anxious, afraid, and
frankly…depressed… by not having the finances to
give Aaron the help he needs.
This is why your help is
needed. We’re trying to raise donations for Aaron to provide
him the help he needs to get better. No one can help the entire world,
but we surely can help one person at a time. Would you help make today
